This finished version of James Patton's layout looks AMAZING!!!
"About 12” x 10” carved in 3/4” maple. I used a .125 ball nose with an 8% step over. 120ipm speed. 315 degree finishing angle. It took about 3 hours. After the sanding, I stained the fur of the bear with a light walnut stain. The facial area a natural stain and the log edges I went with an ebony stain. ( Used all small craft brushes to apply the stain ) After a few coats of krylon, I dry brushed a little grey on the edge of the log to bring out the detail of the bark. I dry brushed a brown nutmeg over the hair area’s on the bear, then followed it up with a touch of black dry brushed sporadically. Painted the nose and eyes black and the tongue cardinal red. Then sprayed a few coats of Deft semi-gloss. The font is Oklahoma set at .1 depth. All the paint was the .89 cent acrylic stuff from Hobby Lobby.
Thanks for another great model."
