The cutting board was carved with an apple in the centre before the apple was coloured and topped up with resin to just below the fine edge. This stops the resin scoring when turned over for more robust cutting. The coasters were produced in the same way but the wine coaster was cut out of 25mm and 30mm thick wood pocketing with the centre having a 6mm outer edge then Chris carved the 3D model out of 9mm beech, stained it with natural oil dyes and once dry he then glued them to the base of the wine bottle holder. To finish he painted a resin seal coat so when pouring the final resin there was no further bleeding into the items.
Recently completed was a 3D carved bunch of grapes with 3 different colours of livos natural dye topped with resin to give a good form base for placing a wine bottle. The base is made from a variety of hardwoods and finished with German counter top livos oil.
